First post!

Ok, I am brand new to the "blogging world". My blog is geared towards interior design, my passion for up-cycling old furniture. Recycle, repaint, reupholster, re-design, is my mantra.

Here, I will blab about great finds among my shopping adventures, that won't break the bank...since I cannot buy every great piece I see...I'll pass the info. it on... I have a deep passion for fine furniture, not laminate, fake-wood, assemble-yourself-furniture. Adult furniture. Beautiful wood, sturdy, well-made pieces.

Fine furniture is not always attainable. I worked for a high end interior design firm for the past four years. I would see these amazing room transformations, and simply sigh. In this economy, who can afford a $200,000 kitchen re-do. (On the higher end of course, but that was who most of our clients were.)  I would fall in love with a gorgeous, yummy fabric, then to find the gorgeous price tag of $200 per yard. Yikes! On the up side, I learned many "trade" secrets. Like you can replace pure silk with faux silk-no one would ever know. You should see the new faux leathers. Again, it feels just like the real thing! Wool rugs vs. synthetic? Of course pure woolk is luxurious, but with a luxurious price tag-synthetics have come a long way. We were usually trying to keep a job within a budget. If a client thought $800 was too much to pay for a side table, we'd search for a similar style that was a fraction of the cost. It really is possible.

When I left my job in June, 2010, I decided to paint furniture full-time. I have sold on Etsy, Ebay, Craigslist. In all honesty, the shipping of big furniture was a huge hassle. So, now I just feature my items on Craigslist, to the surrounding areas of southeast Michigan. I hope to eventually have a store front, as I my basement is starting to resemble a storefront.

Thanks for looking. I hope you find this blog interesting. I welcome all comments, questions...Looking forward to chatting with you.
